UL Compliant and Flame Retardant:
Sunrise offers silicone hoses which made of UL listed silicone materials that can resist flame spread and self-extinguish. These products comply with UL flammability requirements such as UL94 V-0, UL94 HB, UL 50. Typical applications include fuel cell power system, electronic enclosures and telecommunication infrastructures. For example, in the event of a fire, silicone parts from UL94 V0 listed material must be able to self extinguish after the ignition source has been removed and must not create flaming drops or particles. The UL listed silicones can help customers achieve UL certification for their end products with less testing while being able to replace existing silicone parts in UL-approved applications without requalification.
UL94 V-0
The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) provides a testing and qualification service to quantify certain properties of silicone elastomer materials. The basic test criteria used by UL in testing silicone compounds are shown below:
Defined as the vertical burn rate in millimeters per minute of a material with a specified thickness. The silicone compound will cease to burn after the ignition source is removed, will not glow under UL test conditions and will not have flaming particles or drops. The V-0 standard is the most stringent UL flammability rating offered for elastomer products.
UL94 HB
The calculation of the linear burn rate in millimeters per minute. The silicone compound does not have burn rates which exceed the specified speed for a specified thickness.
The silicone compounds listed and meet the UL requirements for tensile, durometer, elongation, all for original physical properties, and after heat aging. Additionally, UL listed materials must pass low-temperature brittleness, compression set and ozone exposure testing.
